Black people, not just black women, have been taught by whites to be ashamed of their Africaness. When whites brought black people here they had to figure out how to control them. They were told that their complexion and hair was ugly and inferior. They were told they were stupid. Reading was forbidden. Long story short, they were lied to and told they were inferior because they were Black.
Blacks and Native Americans did much intermingling. History books don’t acknowledge the rapport between Black people and the Native people. A lot of African Americans have Native relatives. But if a Black person has Native ancestry or some other ethnic influence and you’ve been taught that you’re inferior because you’re African, then which ancestry do you think will end up being more special to that person?
